After more than forty years of teaching and training in traditional Tang Soo Do and martial arts, it is time for me to close this chapter. Following two total knee replacements, I’ve come to accept that I can no longer continue my karate training in the way I once did. The art that has shaped my entire life — through discipline, perseverance, and the pursuit of balance — now guides me toward a different path.
Though I can no longer train or teach as before, my journey with martial arts is far from over. I will be focusing my energy on writing — preserving and passing on all I have learned over the past four decades through books. My hope is that these writings will serve as a bridge between generations, sharing not only the techniques and traditions of our art, but also the deeper lessons of character, humility, and resilience that martial training instills.
To all my students, friends, and fellow martial artists around the world — thank you. Your dedication, support, and shared spirit have been the greatest reward of my teaching. While this website is coming to an end, my journey of learning, reflection, and giving back continues — just along a new path.
Stay strong. Keep training. Keep growing.
Tang Soo.
